Rivers Hospital continues with their Look Good Feel Better Workshops

Facing cancer with confidence, Rivers Hospital launched their first Look Good Feel Better workshop back in February of 2018. Ladies currently undergoing and also recently finished their cancer treatment join together for a morning of make-up tips, laughter and building new friendships.

The Look Good Feel Better charity was introduced to the UK in 1994. With a team of dedicated volunteers, they offer unique programmes of free skincare and make-up and aim to help women combat the visible signs of cancer treatment. Equipped with an army of expert volunteers, the charity launched not only their first workshop at Rivers Hospital, but their 100th workshop in the UK.

The workshops are set-up to help bring women together who are in similar situations. Patients can come along to a LGFB workshop during treatment and up to one year following treatment. Each patient attending the event is provided with a FREE goodie bag full of beauty products to try and take home; including Lancôme, Clinique, Liz Earle and much more.

Sarah Addis, Regional Manager for Look Good Feel Better commented that “There are three most important points to the masterclasses; They bring ladies together who are in the same situation, provides patients with tips and tricks to help with the visible signs of their cancer treatment and the takeaway goodie bag. All together they help to make a positive experience for the patients.” Sarah also added that her team describe their time as volunteers as a “gift for giving”.

A patient, who is currently undergoing treatment herself, was initially unsure of going to the workshop. However, since attending, was feeling much better about herself. Nicky commented “It has been a great morning and a great opportunity to meet other women and speak to someone in the same situation.”
