Rivers Hospital Unveils New Chemotherapy Day Unit
On Monday 4th February, World Cancer Day, Rivers Hospital officially opened their brand new facilities following their latest development of the chemotherapy services. The development will further enhance the hospital’s facilities for our private patients, consultants and staff. Rivers already have a well-established chemotherapy service; the unit will increase capacity and improve our patient experience.
Attending the launch were special guests, Sir Rod Stewart CBE and Lady Penny Stewart, long standing supporters of the hospital, as well as representatives from the Ramsay Health Care Executive Board, founding staff members, consultants and members of the local healthcare community. The event consisted of a tour of the new area, the official ‘cutting of the ribbon’ and unveiling of the plaque to mark the special occasion.
Rivers Hospital offers first class facilities enabling patients to be accompanied by relatives or friends during their treatment, as well as a brighter, lighter environment with increased capacity for more patients. The new facilities include seven individual bays which have the capacity to be utilised as a communal area by opening the bi-folding room dividers and also a double room for patients requiring a higher level of care and/or an inpatient stay.
The chemotherapy services are well established and have continued to develop year on year. This year has been an exciting one with the new development and Rivers is delighted to now be able to offer patients and families the opportunity to have access to leading treatment and specialists, as well as providing a bright and contemporary environment.
Chris Harbron, Hospital Director at Rivers Hospital said: “I am delighted that we are now in a position to open our new Chemotherapy Day Unit. A private patient chemotherapy service has operated at Rivers Hospital in Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire for more than 20 years and this unit enhances our offering. We are an established healthcare provider and committed to offering the highest standards of care and treatment to our local community.”
