Dr Vijay Chakravarti has many years of experience in all branches of Paediatrics, Paediatric Allergy and Adult Allergy. He sees children with a variety of general paediatric problems such as Respiratory, Neurology, Kidney/bladder problems, Gastrointestinal problems and Growth and Endocrine problems. He has additionally trained and specialised in Childrens Allergy and this extends to all paediatric allergy problems including hay fever, asthma, urticaria, gastrointestinal allergy problems including reflux disease, and food intolerances in infants and children. The Adult allergy practice includes common allergic problems such as Asthma, Eczema and Hay fever, Hives, Angioedema and bowel allergy. He also has a special interest in desensitisation of adults and treatment of bowel allergic problems presenting as IBS or food intolerance symptoms.

Dr Chakravarti trained for the MBBS degree and MD (Paediatrics) in Mumbai (India). He then trained in the UK, (MRCP, DCH) and in the USA at The Columbia University Paediatric Residency programme (New York), and The Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia (Medical Centre of Delaware). He completed his Fellowship training in Allergy & Clinical Immunology at the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (Children's Allergy) and The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (Adult Allergy). Dr Chakravarti was an NHS Consultant for over 20 years at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, taking early retirement in 2014. During this time he was variously the Clinical director for Child Health, College Tutor for Junior doctors, Specialist Trainer in Child Health and Lead Allergist, and established many specialist paediatric services. He was awarded the “Princess Award' in 2002 for clinical excellence, and the “Allergy Healthcare Professional Hero” by Allergy UK (2016) after being nominated by one of his patients.He has also held honorary appointments at Addenbrooke's hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and St Thomas' hospital
