Academic background

Mr Sharma qualified in India and then did further speciality training in the United States in Grand Rapids in Michigan, Yale University and Louisville in Kentucky. He completed fellowship and did the Yorkshire television fellowship for the programme, Jimmy’s, in the early 90’s and then completed his higher orthopaedic surgical training with fellowships in Derby and Leicester. 

Mr Sharma now works as a Senior Lecturer at Imperial College and University of Hertfordshire as well as being a full time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

Mr Sharma is a full time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust and provides services at Rivers Hospital for private practice. He has been  responsible for developing good liaison with general practices teaching injection techniques to the shoulder, knee and elbow and has regularly been a part of teaching on a one-to-one basis. 

Given his academic pursuits he finds this extremely important. He has also developed various pathways to allow the primary care to integrate well with secondary care. He is one of the initial consultants in Hertfordshire to start doing arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs.
